Piggy:

He is the awkward one and the most averse to physical labor one on the island; However, Piggy represents the intelligence and sophistication of society that the boys seemed to neglect. Piggy would fall under Conventional mortality in stage four of maintaining the social order; Piggy is accustomed to civilized order and obeying the rules until he was stranded in the island which held no official rules. His appearance itself is the reminder of culture within the democratic system to all the boys, especially Jack who resented Piggy. This is similar to modern societal issues, when an individual is not watched or avoided their problems they feel as if they are free and could do what they want to but when reminded of that they are being watched and not free of problems from an individual one would resent that individual. Piggy is seen as that individual and not appreciated enough until we was killed.

Ralph:

He is not the brightest boy on the island but displayed lots of character. Since the beginning, Ralph showed the qualities of a leader; however, most of the boys eventually succumbed into savage instincts whereas Ralph stays focused on the rules of order and the rules of civilization. Ralph falls under Post-conventional morality in stage five of social construct and individual rights; He is aware that rules and laws might exist for the good of the greatest number, This is shown by his act of constantly trying to get a set system to live in a more efficient way, similar to society. For an example, At first he made a group for hunting food, keeping watch of fire, and to make shelter in order to life in a more efficient way but failed to due to the lack of commitment and fulfillment of the duties between the boys; Similar to today's society, if the people in a country all didn't want to work and didn't get an education because they didn't want to then the country would have a low standard of living since no workers would produce no business. Ralph has been influenced by a society that works hard to live a better life which has made him want to do the same in the stranded island by being focused on domestic orders and the rules of civilization.
